What
is MCT?
MODBUS
Cross Table (MCT) is a technique to optimize variable MODBUS addresses
that can significantly increase the speed of MODBUS drivers when
accessing variables in a Smar LC700 or DF65 system.
In
case of large applications where many of the used variables have
MODBUS addresses separated by large distance, causes the communication
driver to issue many MODBUS commands
to finally grab a desired set of variables. The more spread the variables
are the higher the number of commands issued to have them accessed.
MCT is designed to group the most used variables in a more efficient
way.

|
|
Can
standard MODBUS drivers still be used?
The
MCT creates a new associated address to a group of variables frequently
used. All variables in the MCT continue to be reached using standard
MODBUS commands, consequently any MODBUS drivers can accesses them.
The difference is that once they are aligned, the MODBUS drivers
can get the variable more efficiently.

Which
devices are taking advantage of this technique?
Today
the only device at Smar taking advantage of the MCT is the LC700/DF65
(Universal Hybrid Controller).

yet powerful, user friendly interface to create, download and
upload the MCT table.
- Using
the Drag and Drop feature the user has the flexibility to add
the Tags to the MCT table.
- Option
to view, compare and replace the current list of variables with
an actual list in the device.
