ENET-710
Module |
|
|
|
Connect the LC700 and CD600Plus in your LAN (Ethernet)
The ENET-710
is a data communication module that bridges Ethernet and Serial communication
networks. Designed to support MODBUS and CDBUS protocols is an ideal
choice to add Ethernet connectivity to Smar LC700, DF65, CD600 and
CD600Plus devices.
The ENET-710
has 5 serial channels (1 RS-232c and 4 RS-485) to increase connectivity
and speed in data stream.
With the
increasing importance of networking for industrial control/automation,
the ENET-710 module provides Ethernet-networked computers the ability
to perform remote monitoring and control of serial MODBUS and/or CDBUS
compatible industrial devices in the field.
Up to
seven clients can simultaneously access the ENET-710 via Ethernet
and communicate over one full-duplex RS-232C and four half-duplex
RS-485 compatible serial devices. The module
can be directly installed in the LC700 Rack or it can be operated
in a stand-alone mode with an external +24VDC power supply.
|
|
|
Multi-master
When
serial devices are connected to the Ethernet through the ENET-710
they can be accessed by more than one Computer, expanding in this way
the traditional "one master and multiple slaves" architecture.
|
|
|
Communication Protocols
Fully compliant with MODBUS/TCP, the ENET-710 implements bridging
to the LC700 PLC CPU serial ports or any other MODBUS/RTU compatible
slave device. It is also ready for the CDBUS/TCP allowing bridging
between Ethernet and the serial CDBUS protocol supported by the Smar
CD600/CD600Plus Multi-Loop Controllers.
The ENET-710 supports 10/100 Mbps Ethernet and serial speeds of up
to 115,200 bps depending only on limitations of the devices used.
|
|
|
Improve overall communication speed
The
5 serial channels allow better distribution of slave devices and
significantly diminish the typical "bottle-neck" caused by multi-drop
architectures. Distribute the devices the most you can between the
available channels for a better performance.

Configuration Web Page:
An
internal WEB server provides the user a direct configuration using
a regular internet browser (Compatible with: MS Internet Explorer,
Netscape, Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox). Once connected to the
ENET-710 a menu is accessed via a simple web page dedicated to configure
the device.
All five
serial ports are set for desired baud rate, protocol, parity, stop
bits, address range and response time-out.
Additionally, system administration settings such as the login username,
password, device IP address and subnet mask are present.
Two serial port redundancy modes (parallel and ring) are available
for devices with one or two serial channels.
|
|
|
Redundant Power Supply:
The ENET-710
supports a redundant power supply mode to provide continuous operation
should the external +24VDC power source fail. For this kind of operation
it is necessary to connect it at the IMB bus. If power supply redundancy
is not necessary, the user can opt to drain power from the IMB or
attach it to an external 24VDC supply.
